By creating an account, accepting these Terms, or using WillSignal, you agree to these Terms.
WillSignal is an inactivity-based private message delivery service. It lets you prepare private messages for selected recipients. You keep your signal active by checking in before your countdown expires. If you stop checking in and your signal goes out, WillSignal may make your prepared messages available to the recipients you selected, subject to your settings, recipient verification, service availability, and these Terms.
WillSignal is for personal, future-delivered messages. It is not designed for emergency communication, urgent instructions, or guaranteed delivery at a specific time.
WillSignal is not a legal will, estate-planning tool, executor service, fiduciary service, trust service, digital-asset transfer service, emergency service, medical service, legal service, financial service, or substitute for professional advice.
Do not rely on WillSignal to create a legally valid will, transfer property, transfer digital assets, give binding legal instructions, appoint an executor, prove death or incapacity, or replace advice from an attorney or other qualified professional.
You may use WillSignal only if you are at least 19 years old if you are located in Korea, or at least 18 years old if you are located outside Korea, and legally able to agree to these Terms.
By using WillSignal, you confirm that you meet the eligibility requirement. If you do not meet it, you may not create an account or use the service.
You are responsible for your account, devices, login credentials, passphrase, recovery code, and activity under your account.
Keep your login credentials, passphrase, and recovery code safe. If you believe your account has been accessed without permission, contact us at admin.willsignal+help@gmail.com.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to your account if we reasonably believe there is a security risk, legal risk, abuse risk, violation of these Terms, or other issue that may affect WillSignal, users, recipients, or third parties.
You are responsible for configuring your signal, countdown, recipients, messages, reveal settings, and related preferences.
Delivery depends on many factors, including your settings, account status, recipient information, recipient verification, email or notification delivery, service availability, abuse review, legal restrictions, and technical conditions.
WillSignal does not guarantee that any message will be delivered, delivered at a specific time, read by a recipient, or preserved forever.
Do not use WillSignal for emergencies, urgent instructions, legal deadlines, medical needs, financial instructions, estate transfers, or any situation where non-delivery or late delivery could cause serious harm.
You may choose recipients for your messages. You are responsible for providing accurate recipient information and for choosing whether your name is revealed to each recipient where the service supports that option.
If you choose not to reveal your name to a recipient, WillSignal will try to follow that setting in the product experience. However, sender reveal settings do not prevent disclosures required or reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, dispute handling, support, or operation of the service.
Recipients may need to create or verify an account before accessing a message. A recipient may ignore, decline, or fail to access a message.
WillSignal may offer locked messages with end-to-end encryption. Locked message bodies are designed so that WillSignal cannot read them after lock.
Locked-message protection has limits. WillSignal may still process account data, recipient data, message metadata, delivery status, notification data, technical logs, consent records, and other information needed to operate, secure, and support the service, as described in the Privacy Policy.
If you lose both your passphrase and recovery code, locked message bodies cannot be recovered. WillSignal cannot reset or recover them for you.
Non-locked messages are handled differently from locked messages. Non-locked message bodies may be encrypted at rest using keys controlled by the service so they can remain recoverable and deliverable according to your settings.
You are responsible for the messages, files, names, recipient information, and other content you provide through WillSignal ("User Content").
You keep any rights you have in your User Content. You give WillSignal a limited permission to host, store, process, transmit, display, and make User Content available as needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the service and to carry out your settings.
For locked message bodies, this permission is limited by the technical design of locked-message encryption.
You may not use WillSignal to:
We may remove content, restrict delivery, suspend accounts, or take other action if we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated or action is needed to protect the service, users, recipients, or third parties.
If you receive content that violates these Terms, or you become aware of such content anywhere in WillSignal, report it to admin.willsignal+report@gmail.com. This is also WillSignal's designated child-safety point of contact.
WillSignal has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. On becoming aware of such material we remove it where we are technically able, permanently terminate the accounts involved, preserve evidence where the law requires it, and report the matter to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement in the relevant jurisdiction, including the Korean National Police Agency for users in Korea.
Some message content is locked with end-to-end encryption and cannot be read by WillSignal. If you report a locked message, we ask you to include the content as it appears to you, because otherwise we cannot see what you are reporting. Sharing it with us is your choice, and it means WillSignal receives content it could not otherwise read. See the Privacy Policy for how reported content is handled and retained.
WillSignal is operated by an individual developer. Reports are reviewed by a person, not automatically. We aim to review reports within a few business days, and we prioritize reports involving child safety or an immediate risk of harm.
Depending on what we find, we may take no action, remove or stop delivery of specific content, restrict an account's ability to send, suspend an account, terminate an account, or refer the matter to law enforcement. We may act on a single report; we are not required to wait for a pattern of reports.
If we restrict, suspend, or terminate your account and you believe we acted in error, write to admin.willsignal+report@gmail.com. You may request deletion of your account at any time, whether or not a report about you is pending.
We may send service-related messages, such as account, security, check-in, signal, recipient, delivery, and policy notices. These are part of the service and are not marketing.
WillSignal does not currently send marketing messages. If we introduce them, we will obtain consent or honor opt-out where required by applicable law and your notification preferences. Opting out of marketing will never stop essential service, security, or delivery-related notices.
Our collection, use, storage, transfer, and deletion of personal information is described in the WillSignal Privacy Policy.
Where required, we may ask for separate consent for specific privacy-related processing, such as overseas transfer of personal information.
You may request account deletion from your account settings (Account → Danger, then "Delete account").
After a deletion request, your account enters a recoverable deletion period of 30 days. During that period, your signal is frozen so that messages are not released, and you may cancel deletion by signing in and choosing to recover your account.
After the recoverable period ends, account data and related content are deleted, de-identified, or retained only as described in the Privacy Policy and as needed for legal, security, fraud-prevention, backup, dispute, tax, accounting, or operational purposes.
Locked message bodies may be unrecoverable if the relevant keys, passphrase, or recovery code are lost, even before account deletion is complete.
We may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue parts of the service.
We will try to give reasonable notice before material changes that significantly affect users, but some changes may be made without advance notice for security, legal, technical, or operational reasons.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will provide notice by reasonable means, such as in-app notice, email, or posting an updated version.
The updated Terms will apply from the effective date stated in the notice or updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using WillSignal and may request account deletion.
For changes that require separate consent under applicable law, we will request that consent separately.
WillSignal depends on third-party services such as hosting, authentication, email delivery, and (in the future) payment processing or app stores.
We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control, but we describe relevant personal-information processing in the Privacy Policy where required.
WillSignal is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim warranties that WillSignal will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, available at any particular time, or capable of delivering every message.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, WillSignal (operated by an individual developer) will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, messages, profits, goodwill, or business opportunities.
This section does not limit liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
You may stop using WillSignal at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created legal or security risk, misused the service, or if we need to comply with law or protect the service, users, recipients, or others.
Termination may affect pending signals, messages, recipients, and delivery.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or WillSignal will be submitted to the Seoul Central District Court as the court of first instance, unless applicable mandatory law provides otherwise.
WillSignal may provide these Terms and related policies in Korean, English, or other languages. For users located in Korea or using the Korean-language version of the service, the Korean version controls. For other users, the English version controls, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
